Kirkland man charged with child sex
SYCAMORE – A 52-year-old Kirkland
man is in DeKalb County Jail on two warrants totaling $1
million after police say he had sexual contact with two
children younger than 13 years old.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office
arrested Roberto Silva, of the 1400 block of Kennedy
Drive, without incident about 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to
a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Silva is charged with two counts of
predatory criminal sex assault of a child. If convicted,
he could face six to 30 years in prison.
Sheriff Roger Scott said the Kirkland
Police Department received a tip from family members of
one of the victims and opened an investigation in
February, and that his department joined the investigation
As a result of the investigation, another
child younger than 13 came forward to allege sexual
contact with Silva.
Scott said those are the only two victims
the departments are aware of, and that the Department of
Children and Family Services and DeKalb County Child
Advocacy Center also assisted.
Silva will be in court Wednesday, where
his bond will be reviewed and set.
