  • Raymond Lee Caissie is charged with second-degree murder in connection with Serena Vermeersch’s death on Sept. 15, 2014. The teen’s body was discovered a day later, after she was reported missing, in an area near 66 Avenue and 146 Street. Caissie was arrested four days later in Vancouver.

Caissie's arrest has touched off a fierce debate about why — and under what conditions — he was released from prison in 2013, having never been paroled and after serving a full sentence of 22 years for a violent sexual assault.

  • Kenneth Paul Canning, a former minor hockey administrator, was sentenced to four years in prison on Tuesday in Sydney provincial court.

Canning was found guilty in April of 11 sex-related offences, including sexual assault, sexual interference, indecent exposure and invitation to sexual touching.

The incidents occurred between 1980 and 2009 and involved four complainants, who cannot be identified because of a publication ban

  • A designated high-risk sex offender may be staying behind bars over a series of alleged parole violations.

CTV News has obtained a recent parole board decision that recommends a new criminal charge against 30-year-old Jonathan George Cardinal.

Cardinal has repeatedly shown a disregard for his release conditions, continually breaching them by using drugs, missing curfews and disappearing days at a time, according to the board

  • Roland Frank Chaput who was convicted of 2 counts "One of sexual intercourse with a female under age 14 who was not his wife; secondly, indecent assault on a female under the age of 14 who was not his wife". Parole board hearings and reports by psychiatrists label his behaviour as that of a paedophile as referred to in professional reports and self-admitted "inappropriate touching" of his daughters while in sex offender treatment.

Larry Daniel Clayton

  • Larry Daniel Clayton will be sentenced Aug. 2 on charges of forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.

Clayton got out of prison in January 2007 after serving all six years of a sentence for aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breaching a court order. In that case, he was found guilty of throwing hydrochloric acid in the face of his ex-girlfriend’s father.

The National Parole Board refused to grant parole to Clayton, saying his risk for “general violence, spousal assault and sexual violent recidivism fell in the high range.”

In 1993, Clayton was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for six prostitution-related offences involving two runaways.

The girls were 13 and 14 when Clayton offered them a drive and then forced them into prostitution. He took them to his sister’s residence, where they were taught how to dress, how to act and what prices to charge. One night, he had sex with them at a hotel.

  • John Archibald Connolly is allowed to serve the remainder of his three-year sentence in his own home, under the supervision of a parole officer.

After serving one-third of his time, he was granted full parole on Feb. 4.

The first girl to be molested was in his home from 1956 to 1965. She was repeatedly raped until she was old enough to better fend for herself, court heard.

The next two victims were in the residence from the late 1960s until the mid-1970s. The fourth victim arrived at the home as a toddler and was there until 1980.

Extremely dangerous offender,Keith Theodor Constantin has been released from prison even though the parole board has deemed him to be a dangerous offender who is assured of recidivism. He will likely rape and kill.

Keith Constantin did not make a good impression among his fellow inmates and Corrections Officers and was held in segregation many times. He admits to having urges of re-offending against children and young women and he says he has thoughts of killing.

Canada has a Criminal Code provision for seeking a “Dangerous Offender” (DO) status for inmates who present as being dangerous to the public. Offenders can be held in prison for indeterminate periods of time once a court has decided that status. The Crown Attorney who prosecuted his last matter suggested in open court that he would consider that if Mr. Constantin re-offends.

James William Conway has a criminal history which includes sexual interference, sexual assault, arson damaging property, failure to comply with disposition and breach of recognizance.

He has to abide by 25 court-ordered conditions including not attending any public park, playground, school yard, daycare centre, community centre or public swimming area or any other site which offers activities for persons under the age of 18.

He is also prohibited from wearing any type of official uniform that a firefighter, police officer or security guard may wear.

In its release B.C. Corrections says Conway has, "maintained a versatile pattern of sexual offending against female children in a predatory and opportunistic manner."

In the common vernacular: Do not allow this “Grabber” anywhere near any female minor children/teens.

Lorne Cook - Judge Trafford concurred with defence lawyer John Rosen's contention that Mr. Cook did not touch the boys for his own sexual gratification. But the former teacher is nonetheless guilty of sexual assault, the judge concluded, because he used his position of authority to abuse the boys, leaving them feeling violated and ashamed.

Instead of jail, Judge Trafford imposed a one-year conditional sentence that includes 30 days of house arrest, and a three-year ban on contact, as a either a teacher or volunteer, with young people under the age of 14 unless there is an adult present.

Wayne Stanley Crawley, 53, has just been released from a federal prison after serving a full two-year sentence for sexual assault.

He has multiple past convictions, including sexual offences against children and adults, that date back to the 1970s, Const. Brian Palmeter, a spokesman for Halifax Regional Police, said Thursday.

Wayne Joseph Croft

CROFT Brothers seem to have similar tendencies as shown by their records and convictions.

  • Wayne Joseph Croft 's high risk to reoffend, the Nova Scotia RCMP on Monday issued a public notification to alert the public of his release. Mr. Croft, 60, has a history of sex offences with boys and girls under the age of 16, dating back to 1978. His youngest victim was two years old.

Mr. Croft, an RCMP release said, has been professionally assessed as being a high-risk offender and the RCMP believe this notification is considered to be in the public’s best interest. Police say he’ll reside in either Enfield or Shubenacadie.

Fifty-seven charges were initially laid against Mr. Croft, but that number was reduced when he agreed to plead guilty to 12 of the most serious offences: eight counts of indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault, one count of having sex with a minor and one of buggery. Specific incidents included oral sex, anal intercourse, simulated sex, fondling and forced sexual intercourse.

  • Keith Alexander Croft pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count of having sex with a girl under 14. Nine other charges were withdrawn. He was handed a 21-month conditional sentence, and three years’ probation.
